Representative Max Miller voted to gut Medicaid by a tune of $1 trillion dollars while over 100,000 residents in his district rely on it for healthcare. This includes individuals with disabilities, seniors, and children. Medicaid pays for 12 percent of inpatient hospital care in OH-07–funding that supports these hospitals and ensures everyone has access to hospital care when they need it. There are 72 nursing homes in OH-07. Nationally, Medicaid covers five in eight nursing home residents, making nursing homes a key source of revenue. Medicaid also supports schools that provide individualized education programs (IEPs) and other health and mental health services to kids. It funds the jobs of care and service workers in hospitals, nursing homes, and home-based settings, as well as those employed to support state and local government services and school districts. Helps many seniors afford their Medicare premiums. It is the largest payer for mental health services in the U.S., including treatment for substance use disorder.

Our health is on the ballot in 2026; so are our children, our seniors, and our veterans. The most severe human and economic consequences are expected to be felt later this year.

We refuse to be kept in the dark. During the first week of June, patients, nurses, and advocates are holding town halls, forums, and candlelight vigils across the country. With nearly 100 events already on the map across about 20 states – including vigils at the NYC AIDS Memorial, Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, and Minneapolis, alongside town halls in Chicago and Pennsylvania – we demand that every representative go on the record right now: will you protect our care, or will you let our local health systems collapse? Everyone gets sick. Everyone needs a functioning emergency room. Whether you live in a rural farming town or a major city, health is primary.

Join us to show Max Miller that there are consequences for cutting off the lifeline for millions of Ohioans. We are standing alongside frontline nurses, patients, loved ones, neighbors, and healthcare advocates to protect our care.
